Hotel Refurbishments Just a click of your mouse and you can be doing a good deed
Every time you book online to sleep in one of our rooms, you have the option of selecting one of three charities to benefit from your stay. We then donate a percentage of your booking to the charity you have chosen. Whilst each individual amount may seem small, when you consider how many people stay at the City Lodge family of hotels, our contribution, thanks to all our valued guests, becomes quite considerable on a six monthly basis. So thank you for helping us make a significant difference in the lives of others - people and animals. You can certainly sleep easier in our beds knowing you've done your bit!

FOOD & TREES FOR AFRICA FOOD & TREES FOR AFRICA
Food & Trees for Africa (FTFA) has 21 years of greening experience through internationally recognised programmes.

Started in 1990, FTFA is a social enterprise that contributes to sustainable development through greening, climate change action, sustainable natural resource management and permaculture food security programmes. FTFA has distributed over 4 million trees, facilitated the creation of thousands of organic food gardens for the poorest and launched the first carbon calculator, the Climate Change Leadership Awards and the Carbon Protocol of South Africa.

Working in partnership - and with the support, endorsement and cooperation of government, the private and public sectors, aid agencies, organisations, media and individuals - FTFA implements: Trees for All, Trees for Homes, Bamboo for Africa, Food Gardens for Africa and EduPlant.
These programmes lead to healthier lives for impoverished communities, more sustainable green environments and increased environmental awareness. For FTFA's history, development partners, board members, patrons, employees, projects, products, media, financial statements and more, please refer to the award winning website: www.trees.co.za. CWD Jobstart Training Centre CWD Jobstart Training Centre
CWD Jobstart Training Centre trains unemployed people from the Western Cape to equip them for entry level jobs in the hospitality industry, and trains and supports community based entrepreneurs. This increases access to economic opportunities and improved household income levels for the very poor. Jobstart builds human capital, promotes personal growth and helps people to lift themselves out of poverty.

Started in 1996 in response to dire unemployment and poverty in the Western Cape Province, Jobstart equips its trainees to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the growing tourism and hospitality industry. Jobstart recruits trainees on a non-denominational basis, through community-based programmes and centres in the poorest areas of the Cape Town metropolitan area.

Most of the trainees are women and most are young. On average, each trainee is responsible for supporting 5 other people so that there is direct benefit to these families and the example within their communities of people successfully improving their situation. Jobstart attracts the poorest and the courses are short enough to enable trainees to start earning as soon as possible. Jobstart training includes theoretical, practical, life skills and in-service training which provides a rounded training and equips trainees well for work.
